Circumcision is a short procedure that removes the foreskin, the retractable sleeve of skin covering the head of the penis. It is medically advised for phimosis (a tight foreskin that cannot be pulled back), paraphimosis (a retracted foreskin stuck behind the head), recurrent balanitis (infection and swelling of the foreskin), painful erections, or repeated urinary infections linked to a tight foreskin. Many men also choose it for hygiene or religious reasons.
Modern laser and stapler techniques have made circumcision quick, nearly bloodless and far more comfortable than conventional surgery. The entire procedure takes about 20-30 minutes, is done as day care - you walk in and go home the same day - and healing is neat and fast, with most men back to office work within a day or two.
At Axten Hospitals, circumcision is performed only by qualified urologists and surgeons, never by unqualified practitioners. You get one honest fixed price quoted upfront with zero surprise billing, cashless insurance where applicable, 0% EMI options, complete privacy, and free follow-up visits until healing is complete.

Phimosis and related foreskin problems are diagnosed by a simple, private clinical examination - no scans are usually needed. The urologist checks how far the foreskin retracts, looks for scarring, infection or skin changes such as balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO), and rules out conditions that need different treatment.
In men with recurrent infections, a urine test and blood sugar check are often advised, because undiagnosed diabetes is a common hidden cause of repeated balanitis and poor healing. This ensures the root problem is treated along with the foreskin condition.

Circumcision at Axten is done under local anaesthesia in adults (with sedation if you prefer) or short general anaesthesia in children, so the procedure itself is painless. After the area is cleaned and numbed, the surgeon removes the foreskin using the laser or stapler technique chosen for you, protecting the head of the penis throughout.
With the laser, tiny blood vessels are sealed as the tissue is divided, so bleeding is minimal and no conventional cutting blade touches the skin. With the stapler device, removal and edge fixation happen in one motion, giving a uniform, cosmetically neat result. Dissolvable stitches or the stapler ring hold the edges while they heal - nothing needs removal by cutting later.
The whole procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. After a short observation period, you go home the same day with a light dressing, simple pain relief tablets and clear written care instructions, plus your care coordinator's number for any questions.
